A bit more about us
The Lancaster University Ballroom Dancing Society (LUBDS) offers lessons in both Ballroom and Latin American dancing taught by our professional teacher Craig.
Our lessons cater to everyone and the society welcomes dancers of all levels from complete beginners to experienced competitive dancers.
Members do not need a partner (but equally, bring one if you can!), any previous experience, or any equipment.
As well as weekly lessons, we compete on the university circuit throughout the year representing Lancaster University, where there are categories for all abilities, including the Inter-Varsity Dance Competition in the world-famous Blackpool Winter Gardens.
We also compete annually in the Roses Varsity against the University of York.

If you don’t fancy competing, one of the highlights of the LUBDS calendar is our annual Charity Showcase which raises a lot of money for charity. In 2019 over £1,500 went to the Morecambe Bay foodbank and Cancer Research UK.
As well as dancing, we also offer numerous socials for our members ranging from nights out to movie nights to our annual Christmas and summer Handover formal meals.
