Do I need to bring a partner? No! Plenty of people come to lessons without a partner and we ensure that they are as comfortable as possible and can dance with someone in the same position as them. People who come with partners feel a little more comfortable dancing with someone they know but this is not a requirement, nor will it affect how much you dance/learn!
-
Can I start coming to lessons part way through the year?Yes! Our beginner lessons will cater to absolute beginners all year round and will start from fresh each week. What does a competition consist of?On a competition day you compete against other universiy couples in multiple categories based on level, nameley Beginner, Novice, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Advanced. A regular uni competition will also include Team Match where every university enters a team entering one couple for the main four dances until one team is crowned the winners.

Do I need a partner to do competitions? How do I find a partner?Yes. We run partnering sessions for both Beginner and Novice+ dancers at the start of the academic year. If you miss this session, speak to our Team Captain, Shane, or any member of the Exec who will try to find you a partner.
-
Do I need special dance shoes and where/how can I buy them?We do a 'dance-shoe' order as a collective throughout the year (at a discounted price), however, if you wish to buy your shoes before the end of the year you can contact the Captain for advice on a choice. It will be recommended for the male to get ballroom style shoes first as the heel is lower and hence latin suitable. Whilst the latin heel is much higher and would make ballroom more difficult. It is usually the opposite situation for females, and therefore getting latin shoes first is preferable.
